Eva Dufhues: KETTE FÜR EIN-, ZWEI- UND DREIKÖPFER
Faced with the increasing virtualization on the one hand and the possibilities of plastic surgery /prosthetics on the other hand, the naturally grown body is no longer a clearly defined entity.
„The body resists the denial of and leavetaking from the tangible, visions that are pursued by an information society detached from space and time. The control function of the body as ultimate authority on what is real is profoundly questioned.“ (Bettina Schönfelder)
Artificial replacements have been used right from the beginning of mankind. They are amendments - or in a wider sense - extensions and enlargements. However, how will we, who are also bodies, deal with such objects in a future which might no longer view the body as real point of reference of our selves?
This was the premise for 11 students of the College of Design (FH) Düsseldorf who worked on the issue of „Questioning the body“
